Tanjong Katong Girl’s School, also called the Premier School of the East, is an all-girls school in Singapore. Tanjong Katong Girl’s School was originally opened in January 1953 with only seven classes, two hundred fifty-five students, and a teaching staff of only ten. It was the first English secondary school set up by the Singapore government after WWII. By 1960, enrollment in the school had increased to about 1200. In 1962, Tanjong Katong Girl’s School became an integrated school.
